Manipur: Amit Shah holds door-to-door campaign in Churachandpur
Guwahati: Ahead of the Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah undertook a door-to-door campaign in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Wednesday.
He also had lunch with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state Chief Minister N Biren Singh at a party worker’s residence during election campaigning.
Shah, who was in Manipur for a day, also spoke at a public forum where he praised the existing Chief Minister’s performance while criticising previous regimes in the state.
“During the dark days of the Congress rule, the state was blighted by militancy, corruption, and internal party feuding. In the last five years, Manipur has had a stable administration under the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister N Biren Singh “Shah stated.
Manipur will hold elections on February 28 and March 5.
The BJP, led by Chief Minister Manmohan Singh is seeking a second term in office with an absolute majority. The BJP has severed connections with all of its past coalitions and is campaigning on its own in all 60 seats.
