Manipur: Arambai Tenggol Members Apprehended for Assault on Police in Bishnupur

Imphal: Manipur Police have on Saturday, June 8, taken into custody six individuals suspected to be members of the Arambai Tenggol group, in connection with the alleged physical assault of police officers and personnel during a bandh observed in Bishnupur district on Sunday, June 9, 2025.

The arrested persons have been identified as Laishram Sanahal Singh alias Sana, aged 26, Laishram Rishikanta, aged 20, and Laishram Premchand alias Kandrang, aged 18, all hailing from Govindagram Awang Leikai, Imphal West district. Additionally, Kangabam Nongdamba Singh, 23, of Terakhongsangbi Ward No. 2, Bishnupur district; Sarangthem Rabichandra alias Rabi, 28, of Kangmong Maisnam Leikai, Imphal West; and Yumnam Jaswant Singh, 22, of Lourembam Maning Leikai, Bishnupur, were also apprehended. These arrests are directly linked to the incident on June 9, where a group purportedly engaged in the assault of police personnel, causing a disturbance to the peace and order in the region. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of further arrests as it progresses.
