Manipur: Arms and Ammunition Seized During Security Operation in Kangpokpi District
Imphal: Manipur police have seized a cache of arms and ammunition during an area domination exercise in the Aigejang region of Kangpokpi district.
The operation, conducted by security forces, is part of an ongoing effort to enhance security across vulnerable areas in both the hill and valley districts.
The seized items include a .303 rifle, a 9mm CMG with a magazine, a 9mm pistol, and an SBBL, as well as heavier weaponry such as two 51mm mortars and two hand grenades.
Additionally, authorities recovered five rounds of live ammunition and two smoke grenades.
Security operations in Manipur have been intensified, with forces carrying out area domination exercises and search operations to curb illegal activities.
The state police have ensured the movement of 194 and 205 vehicles carrying essential goods along National Highways 37 and 2, respectively. Strict security measures, including the provision of security convoys, are in place at sensitive stretches to facilitate the safe passage of vehicles.
To bolster security, a total of 109 Nakas (checkpoints) have been set up across different districts in Manipur, including both hill and valley areas. Despite the increased vigilance, police reported that no individuals were detained for violations across the state during the recent operations.
