Manipur: Arson Attack on Blooming Flower Children’s Foundation School in Jiribam Raises Concerns Over Security

Imphal: The Blooming Flower Children’s Foundation School in Kalinagar Hmar Veng, Jiribam, was set ablaze by unidentified miscreants in an early morning attack on October 18.

The arson occurred at around 4:10 a.m., causing significant damage to the school building, though no casualties were reported.

The school, established in 1997 by Rev. Benjamin Shakum, has been a vital institution in the region, known for its consistent academic excellence and inclusive environment for students from all communities.

Expressing his grief, Rev. Shakum said, “I am deeply saddened that my school, which welcomed students from all communities, was targeted in this way. This is an attack not just on an institution but on the values of unity and progress.”

The Hmar Inpui General Headquarters condemned the incident, describing it as an assault on education and a deliberate attempt to destabilize the Hmar community.

The attack has raised serious concerns about security in the area, as local authorities have come under criticism for their failure to provide adequate protection to the school, despite earlier requests for increased security measures.

The community is calling for a thorough investigation and urging authorities to take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future.
