Manipur: Assam Rifles foils terror attack, seizes explosives

Guwahati: The Assam Rifles’ Joupi and Phundrei Battalions, under the umbrella of IGAR (South), averted a major terrorist attack by recovering an improvised explosive device (IED) near Kuljang village in Chandel district in a joint operation with Manipur Police.

Based on precise information, Assam Rifles personnel and Manipur Police began an operation that resulted in the IED being identified and disarmed by the bomb disposal unit in a timely manner. The IED was designed to disrupt the movement of locals and security forces along the Sugnu-Joupi road.

Following sanitization of the area, the recovered IED was destroyed on the spot to ensure the region’s security and prevent any loss of life or property.
