Manipur: Banned Militant Group Members Apprehended in Imphal West District, arms and ammunition seized
Northeast Desk, 28th March: Manipur Police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending four members of the banned KCP(Noyon) group in Imphal West District on March 27.
The individuals, identified as Wahengbam Mathoi Singh (32), Sorenshangbam Bungcha Singh@ Winner (47), Thongam Joynanda Singh @ Boycha (49), and Ak. Sanjoy @ Herojit (34), were reportedly involved in extorting money from the public.
During the operation, authorities seized a cache of arms and ammunition, including a 9 mm pistol loaded with ten live rounds, two hand grenades, three 7.62 mm live ammunitions, and an empty INSAS rifle magazine. Additionally, a car and three mobile phones were confiscated from their possession.
Following their apprehension, a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to gather further evidence and ascertain the extent of their involvement in criminal activities.
The successful operation underscores the commitment of Manipur Police to maintain law and order in the region and combat the activities of banned militant groups that pose a threat to public safety and security.
