Manipur: Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Kangpokpi and Senapati district today Amidst Political Statements
Northeast Desk, 15th January: The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by the Indian National Congress and Rahul Gandhi, continues its journey through Manipur, focusing on the Kangpokpi and Senapati districts before entering Nagaland.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi formally flagged off the Yatra during an event at Khongjom in Thoubal. Attended by several national and regional Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi addressed the gathering, highlighting the challenges faced by Manipur.
Expressing concern over the collapsed infrastructure of governance in the state, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP government, stating that Manipur has become a symbol of BJP’s hate politics. He emphasized that the state had witnessed division, loss, and suffering, questioning the absence of the Indian Prime Minister in comforting the affected.
As part of the campaign, Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are using a hybrid mode of transportation, including buses, due to time constraints and health concerns. The Yatra aims to address issues like social justice, unemployment, and inflation, countering the politics of hatred with debate and understanding.
Covering 14 states and 85 districts over 66 days, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra seeks to engage citizens across India’s east-west corridor. It is strategically positioned for the Congress party’s electoral engagement ahead of the national elections, promoting unity, justice, and the pursuit of well-being for the nation’s citizens. The Yatra is scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on March 20, 2024.
