Manipur: BJP Fourth MLA Resigns as Chairman of MANIREDA

Guwahati: Another BJP legislator of Manipur Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh, resigned from his position as the head of the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) dealing yet another severe blow to the saffron party in Manipur.

With this resignation from additional responsibilities imposed by CM Biren Singh, Raghumani Singh becomes the fourth legislator from the BJP camp in Manipur.

MLA P Brojen Singh resigned from his position as the Manipur Development Society chairman on April 20.

‘Personal grounds’ were given as the explanation for Brojen’s resignation as an elected MLA from the Thoubal district’s Wangjing Tentha Assembly constituency.

“I tender my resignation from the post of chairman Manipur Development Society (MDS) Imphal due to some personal grounds”, mentioned Brojen in his resignation letter.

When Brojen announced his resignation, a few elected MLAs mostly from the Kuki community were already camped out in New Delhi, asking the Centre leadership for help. They were upset with the state’s current leadership for allegedly lacking transparency and failing to keep their promises.

According to Thokchom Radheshyam, who recently quit his job as Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s advisor Manipur has been run in a totalitarian manner which has displeased many MPs. Either the chief minister or the state party leadership is what they want to change.

“If we want transparency, whatever we do, whatever we speak, what we think in our mind and soul should be same and action upon,” he wrote on the social media platform.

Another BJP politician, Karam Shyam who resigned on April 17 from his position as Chairman of the Tourism Corporation claimed in a social media post that the state government’s senior leadership does not treat their subordinates fairly and that it is unacceptable for a leader to threaten subordinates.

Shyam added that the CM had promised to create a historical place in his district but afterwards turned down his plea.
