Manipur: Brown Sugar Seized In Major Drug Bust
Guwahati: Manipur’s security forces raided a significant narcotics production facility and made approximately Rs 82 crores worth of seizures on Sunday.
According to reports, a group of Lilong Police, the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), and the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) worked together to carry out the operation.
The united team executed a raid based on particular inputs, finding a manufacturing facility. During the raid, up to 54.685 kilogrammes of brown sugar were seized.
According to officials, the estimated value of the confiscated brown sugar was Rs 82 crores.
According to them, the raid took place at the home of Imem Bibi at Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai in the Manipur district of Thoubal.
A person named Yumkhaibam Mustafa was caught red handed at the scene allegedly preparing brown sugar, they added.
Meanwhile, Manipur police informed that the operation was carried out after they received many reports of unlawful activity occurring nearby. A united squad was assembled, and the raid was carried out today with excellent success.
Apart from the drugs, the raiding team also found various other raw materials used in the production of drugs including chemicals, utensils, gas burners, cylinder and mobile phones.
Officials then mentioned that the accused who was arrested from the site was handed over to Lilong police for further legal action.
