Manipur Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Grand Parade
Imphal: Manipur, along with the rest of India, celebrated the 76th Republic Day on January 26th with a grand parade held at Kangla. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla took the salute at the event.
The parade featured 86 contingents, including police departments, cultural troupes, and tableaux from various government departments.
Eight Manipur police officers were honored with President’s medals. Sorokhaibam Rudranarayan Singh received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), while Laishram Chaoba Singh, Naorem Seilendra Singh, Sorokhaibam Santosh Singh, Khaidem Chandra Singh, Lenpu Kom, Lamthianson Chongloi, and Athokpam Tej Singh were awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, his cabinet colleagues, and high-ranking officials were also present at the Republic Day celebrations. The event commemorated India’s democracy, unity, and the significant contributions of Manipur to the nation’s progress.
