Manipur Chief Minister Announces Ex-Gratia Payments After Ukhrul District Violence

Northeast Desk, 3rd October: In the wake of the devastating violence in Ukhrul District, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has stepped forward to provide support to the affected families. Three lives were lost, including two civilians and a member of the Manipur Rifles, leaving the community in mourning.

Singh expressed deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. “The entire state stands united in grief during this tragic time,” he emphasized.

To alleviate the suffering, the State Government has announced immediate financial assistance for the affected families, in line with existing government schemes. The disbursement of funds has commenced promptly, with a commitment to complete the process by tomorrow.

In addition to financial support, injured individuals are receiving comprehensive medical care in both Imphal and Ukhrul. Local MLAs have been actively involved in assisting the injured and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary support.

The District Administration, local police, and security forces swiftly mobilized to restore order in the region. Singh urged the public and civil society organizations to join forces in fostering peace and preventing further violence.

The Chief Minister reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to addressing issues through dialogue, emphasizing that those responsible for inciting violence will face consequences.
