Manipur Chief Minister Launches Yarn Distribution for Internally Displaced Persons
Northeast, August 19 – In a significant move to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by recent conflicts, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced the distribution of essential yarn supplies to women in the relief camp at Leimaram Government High School.
Following the earlier provision of weaving looms and related materials, this latest initiative aims to promote self-reliance among the displaced population. Chief Minister Singh highlighted the importance of the programme, emphasizing its role in rebuilding lives and fostering economic independence.
“I am pleased to see the women of Leimaram Government High School relief camp receive the necessary yarn. This initiative is crucial for helping them rebuild their lives and achieve self-reliance,” Singh stated in a social media post.
The yarn distribution is part of a broader strategy to revive Manipur’s traditional textile industry while addressing the needs of displaced communities. The state government’s efforts include the CM Yarn Scheme and the Muga Silk Buyback initiative, aimed at creating employment opportunities and empowering local populations.
“Through schemes like the CM Yarn Scheme and the Muga Silk Buyback initiative, we are committed to creating jobs and supporting our people,” the Chief Minister added.
