Northeast Desk, 26th November: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced today that the government is in the final stages of negotiations with a proscribed outfit based in the Valley and is poised to conclude a peace accord soon.

Without explicitly mentioning the militant group’s name, the Chief Minister informed the media in Imphal that talks have progressed significantly, indicating an imminent signing of a peace deal.

In his statement, CM N Biren Singh affirmed, “”Yes, just that we are advancing (in talks). And we are expecting to sign a peace accord with one big UG (underground group) very soon.”

It’s worth noting that Chief Minister N Biren Singh had previously acknowledged ongoing discussions between the government and an armed group based in the valley. Despite refraining from disclosing the specific militant outfit, sources suggest that it holds prominence in the region.
