Manipur Chief Minister Praises Economic Revival Program for Displaced Persons

Northeast Desk, 25th July: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has lauded the progress of the state’s Economic Revival Program, designed to aid individuals displaced by the recent ethnic violence. The program, initiated in response to the unrest that erupted in May 2023, is focused on assisting those living in relief camps across the state.

In a recent tweet, CM Singh expressed his satisfaction with the program’s momentum, highlighting its success in helping displaced individuals find income sources and work towards self-sufficiency.

The Economic Revival Program encompasses several key components:

  1. Training and Skill Development: Offering courses to enhance employability and skills.
  2. Provision of Equipment and Materials: Supplying necessary tools and resources.
  3. Support for Small Businesses: Assisting individuals in starting their own businesses.

This initiative addresses the immediate need to rehabilitate the over 60,000 people displaced during the peak of the violence. As part of the state government’s broader strategy to restore normalcy and revitalize the economy in conflict-affected regions, the program aims to rebuild lives and communities.

CM Singh’s endorsement of the program underscores the government’s commitment to supporting displaced individuals and fostering recovery in the aftermath of the conflict.
