Manipur Chief Minister Unveils Welfare Schemes to Empower Various Groups

Northeast Desk, 30th December: Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh of Manipur unveiled a series of welfare schemes aimed at providing support to diverse groups within the state. The initiatives encompass a range of sectors, addressing the needs of women, farmers, sportspersons, and the education system.

Noteworthy among these is the Chief Minister’s Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme, catering to women over 40 without a source of income or beneficiaries of other government programs. Additionally, schemes like the Farmer Livelihood Support Scheme, Chief Minister’s Khungang Ama Sababung Ama, Chief Minister’s Sportspersons Livelihood Support Scheme, School Fagathansi Mission 2.0, and College Fagathansi Mission aim to enhance various aspects of livelihoods, education, and sports in the state.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Biren Singh condemned a recent violent attack in Imphal West district, emphasizing the state’s commitment to restoring peace through dialogue and negotiation. Serving since 2017, he represents the Heingang Assembly constituency and is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur.

Beyond political roles, Chief Minister Biren Singh has demonstrated a commitment to humanitarian efforts, providing shelter to Myanmar nationals fleeing conflict while ensuring the well-being of the indigenous population. The newly announced welfare schemes further underscore his multifaceted approach to governance, focusing on health coverage, housing, financial support for women, and regional stability. The Chief Minister’s Health Assurance Scheme (CMHT), offering up to Rs. 5 lakh per family annually for health coverage, stands as a testament to the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of Manipur’s residents.
