Manipur Clinches Overall Championship Title at 3rd Northeast Games
Northeast Desk, 24th March: Manipur reaffirmed its sporting prowess by clinching the overall championship title for the third consecutive time at the recently concluded 3rd Northeast Games in Nagaland, held from March 18th to 23rd.
Competing across 15 disciplines, Manipur’s athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, securing an impressive medal haul of 130, including a staggering 52 gold medals.
Host state Nagaland showcased commendable performance, securing the first runner-up position with a total of 134 medals, including 48 golds. Assam followed closely, securing the second runner-up position with 139 medals.
The Games served as a platform for healthy competition among the eight participating Northeastern states, including Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
Manipur’s consistent dominance in the Northeast Games underscores their sporting excellence, having secured the championship title in the inaugural edition held in Imphal in 2018 and successfully defending their title in Meghalaya in 2022.
