Manipur CM Announces Restoration Efforts for Naga River, Flood Situation Improves


Northeast Desk, 3rd June: Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has declared that the Manipur Fire Service has initiated operations to clear blockages and revive the flow of the Naga River at North AOC Imphal. This move is part of the ongoing endeavors to alleviate floodwater and address waterlogged zones across the state.

The flash flood scenario in Manipur exhibits significant progress, with water levels diminishing across previously submerged low-lying regions. Nevertheless, segments of Khwairamband Imphal Market remain impacted, prompting the closure of shops and businesses for the past three days.

State IFC Minister L. Sushildro has reassured the public of imminent relief, stating that the flood situation in Imphal city, including the market, will be effectively managed within two days, ensuring a swift return to normalcy. The IFC Department remains vigilant, actively monitoring flood-affected areas and implementing strategic measures to mitigate the crisis.

Minister Sushildro, addressing the media, underscored the department’s comprehensive approach, ensuring visits to all flood-hit areas in Manipur. Furthermore, proactive arrangements have been made to secure alternative water sources, guaranteeing uninterrupted drinking water supply to residents.
