Manipur CM Assures Restoration of Mobile Internet Services Within 4-5 Days

Northeast Desk, 19th October: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has assured that mobile internet services will be reinstated in the state within the next “four to five days.”

Speaking during a public program at the Ukhrul district, Singh empathized with the hardships people have faced due to the mobile internet ban. He explained that the government imposed this ban as a response to certain elements exploiting the situation to create trouble. However, he reaffirmed his commitment to restore these services in the coming days.

During the day’s events, Chief Minister Singh initiated several projects and inaugurated schemes with a total worth of Rs 64.38 crore in the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts. He addressed the issue of population growth in the district capital and associated land concerns by suggesting the development of a new Ukhrul township near Sirarakhong village. Singh emphasized that the government is eager to develop Ukhrul in alignment with the aspirations of its residents.

Singh acknowledged that water scarcity is a significant problem in Ukhrul and allocated Rs 6 crore for improving water supply in the town. Additionally, there are plans for the construction of a dam, estimated to cost between Rs 180 crore and Rs 200 crore.

The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to civil society leaders and village chiefs for their steadfast support in the state’s anti-drug campaign.
