Manipur CM inaugurates Institute of Hotel Management at Nangmaiching

Northeast Desk, 14th March: Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) constructed at Nongmaiching, Imphal East, Manipur, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The inauguration program was organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur, with the Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd. as the implementing agency for construction.

The institute offers courses including B.Sc. Hotel and Hospitality Administration, B.Sc. Culinary Arts and Catering, BBA Travel and Tourism Management, and Post Graduate Diploma in Aviation, Hospitality, and Tourism.

Addressing the occasion, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh emphasized the importance of SIHM, highlighting the significant impact of the tourism sector on the economy and employment generation in the state. He urged trainers and trainees to maintain a harmonious relationship with nature and preserve the scenic beauty of the landscape surrounding the institute.

Singh also stressed the necessity of upgrading the approach road to the institute to a double-lane road for better accessibility.

Highlighting the government’s focus on tourism development, Singh mentioned various ongoing projects across the state, including the construction of Sangai Ethnic Park, Manipur Olympian Park, Water Amusement Park, Heritage Park at Makhel, and Southern Cultural Centre at Behiang.

Addressing environmental concerns, Singh mentioned ongoing rejuvenation efforts at Lamphelpat and emphasized the importance of preserving paddy land for future food security.

Regarding the law-and-order situation, Singh assured that the government is actively working towards restoring normalcy, with security forces deployed in periphery areas and political dialogues initiated for resolution.

As SIHM is situated in a foothill area, Singh instructed local authorities to ensure security arrangements to prevent disturbances.

In conclusion, Singh urged the public to work diligently towards further development, acknowledging the state’s loss of time due to past conflicts. The inauguration was attended by various dignitaries, including Power Minister Thongam Biswajit, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, and several MLAs and senior government officials.
