Manipur: CM N Biren Singh Addresses Security Concerns and Inaugurates Permanent Housing Scheme in Manipur

Northeast Desk, 10th November: In response to escalating security concerns in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh led a pivotal security meeting on November 10. The meeting, attended by top police officials, Assam Rifles, and key security personnel, aimed to formulate a comprehensive strategy to effectively address the evolving security situation in the state.

This follows a significant announcement on November 9, where Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the Permanent Housing Scheme during a solemn program at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The scheme intends to provide substantial financial assistance to families adversely affected by recent acts of violence in Manipur.

Under the scheme, the government outlined a tiered financial support system, providing Rs. 10 lakhs for pucca houses, Rs. 7 lakhs for semi-pucca houses, and Rs. 5 lakhs for kutcha houses. The aid, distributed in two installments, is expected to benefit over 4800 beneficiaries across the state.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh reaffirmed the government’s pledge to provide assistance to individuals impacted by the May 3, 2023, violence. Under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government has already paid out a total of Rs. 399.82 crores for different forms of relief. The Manipur IT Centre for Exams is supported, television sets are provided for the relief camps, prefabricated homes are built, the camps are managed, food is provided, and winter readiness is ensured.
