Manipur CM N.Biren Singh called on PM Modi in New Delhi

Guwahati: Chief Minister N Biren Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to discuss different steps made by the state administration to maintain peace and development.

The chief minister travelled to Delhi to meet with Prime Minister Modi today.

The chief minister in a tweet said, “Called on PM Narendra Modi Ji today and I had the privilege to discuss various initiatives that the state government has taken up to sustain peace and development in Manipur. Also, apprised him of the steps that we have taken up to fight drugs and corruption in the state.”

This is his first trip to Delhi after being sworn in as Manipur’s Chief Minister for the second time.

“Next task would be to wash out all drugs-related matter from the state and thirdly, would try to see that all the insurgents operating in the state are brought to the negotiating table and political dialogues are held with them,” he added.

In the Assembly elections, the BJP won an absolute majority with 32 seats in the 60-member House, retaining power in Manipur. Governor La Ganesan gave the oath to Singh, Cabinet Ministers Thongam Biswajit Singh, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Govindas Konthoujam, and Nemcha Kipgen, all of the BJP, and Awngbow Newmai, of the Naga People’s Front (NPF).

The Congress won five seats, while the NPP took seven. The Naga People’s Front received five seats, while the Kuki People’s Alliance received two. Three seats were won by independents.

With the assistance of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the National People’s Party (NPP), the BJP formed the previous government in the state, with Biren Singh as Chief Minister.
