Manipur CM N Biren Singh Reaffirms Commitment to Border Security and Drug Eradication

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has reiterated his government’s dedication to strengthening border security, identifying illegal immigrants, and eliminating drug-related activities in the state.

Speaking at a public interaction programme in Kumbi, Bishnupur district, Singh assured the people that his administration remains steadfast in its mission to ensure a peaceful and secure future for Manipur.

“We remain committed to fencing the borders, identifying new immigrants, regulating the entry of foreigners through passes, and completely eradicating drugs from the state. This is a promise from the BJP and the state government, and we will not stop until these objectives are fully achieved,” Singh declared.

Emphasizing the BJP’s role in safeguarding the indigenous people of Manipur, the Chief Minister asserted that no other political party had taken meaningful steps to protect the state.

He highlighted that the demand for the Inner Line Permit (ILP), which was ignored for years, was only granted under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Addressing concerns over internally displaced persons (IDPs), Singh stated that no one would be forced to return to unsafe locations. “We have already facilitated the return of around 2,000 displaced individuals to secure areas. The rest will be allowed to return after a thorough assessment. Additionally, more than 500 displaced persons have been provided employment opportunities,” he added.

Singh recounted the origins of the recent conflict, blaming armed groups for inciting violence, burning homes, and forcing people to flee.

He reassured the public that the government remains committed to ensuring that all displaced individuals can return safely to their homes.

Honoring the sacrifices of security forces, Singh acknowledged the brave personnel from the BSF, Assam Rifles, and state police who lost their lives defending innocent civilians. “The real enemies are those armed groups trying to divide Manipur. We are working tirelessly to resolve this conflict, and with the Centre’s support, the state has experienced relative peace over the last four to five months,” he said.

The Manipur government continues to collaborate with security agencies and the central government to uphold peace and stability, reaffirming its commitment to preserving the state’s territorial integrity and protecting its people.
