Manipur: CM N Biren Singh wins from Heingang seat by 18,000 votes
Guwahati: As the votes recently held assembly elections in Manipur are being counted, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has emerged victorious from the Heingang seat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently ahead in the state, hence early indicators indicate to a BJP victory.
Singh, the state’s current BJP chief minister, won the Heingang seat by roughly 18,000 votes.
The counting of votes began at 8 a.m. in Manipur, where polling took place in two phases.
The voter participation in Manipur was 78.03 percent in the first phase and 76.04 percent in the second phase, which were held on February 28 and March 5, respectively. In the 60-seat assembly, 92 candidates competed for 60 seats.
