Manipur CM Relaunches Online Portal For Inner Line Permit

Guwahati: The updated Inner Line Permit (ILP) online platform was relaunched by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on December 23.

A barcode scanner is a feature of this recently developed portal that can identify bogus ILP cards.

At the inaugural event held at his secretariat, Biren announced that the state government has already launched the ILP portal in 2020 to eliminate any difficulties travellers would encounter while requesting a permit to enter the state.

A new site called www.manipur.ilp.online.mn.gov.in was established. It will be controlled by deputy commissioners and labour commissioners on December 22.

A barcode scanner would be an additional element of the new site that would make it possible to detect phoney ILP cards.

He continued by saying that within two months a very advanced identification camera would be put to use to find out whether visitors’ ILP cards are still valid.

In order to identify illegal immigrants and take legal action against landlords who are found renting out rooms or houses he declared that a statewide door-to-door survey would be carried out. This was done to express his concern over the ongoing influx of migrants even after the state’s ILP system was put into place. As a result, individuals should voluntarily disclose whether they offer any shelter.

It should be noted that the ILP system in Manipur issues four different categories of permits: temporary, regular, special and labour permits. At first, these licences were manually given at seven counters located at various entry points including the airport in Imphal.

However, the state government launched an online site in February 2020 to eliminate the difficulties encountered by travellers when filing for a permit.
