Manipur Congress Chief Blames BJP Government for Escalating Violence
Imphal: Manipur Congress President Keisham Meghachandra has held the BJP-led state government responsible for the ongoing violence and instability in the region, accusing Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s administration of failing to maintain law and order.
Speaking about the current state of unrest, Meghachandra said that the “anarchy” under the double-engine government has created a dangerous environment, with mobs targeting the residences of BJP ministers and MLAs. He noted that even the in-laws of Chief Minister Biren Singh and the offices of Congress legislators have been attacked, reflecting the public’s growing frustration with the administration’s inefficacy.
The Congress leader characterized the escalating violence as a direct consequence of the state government’s inability to govern effectively and restore normalcy. “The BJP government has failed to address the root causes of this crisis, plunging the state into chaos,” he remarked.
Meghachandra also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued silence on the crisis. “The Prime Minister, who is currently abroad, has chosen not to comment or take decisive action on the deteriorating situation in Manipur,” he said.
The criticism from the Congress leader comes amid rising tensions in Manipur, where ethnic violence and political instability have wreaked havoc for months. Meghachandra’s comments add to the growing calls for accountability and immediate action from the BJP-led state and central governments to address the crisis and restore peace.
