Manipur Congress Expresses Gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for Visit Amid State’s Unrest
Northeast Desk, 9th July: The Manipur Congress extended heartfelt gratitude to Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for his third visit to the violence-stricken state. During his recent trip, Gandhi emphasized the urgent need for intervention to resolve ongoing conflicts, engaging directly with displaced individuals from affected communities to grasp the gravity of their situation.
State party chief Keisham Meghachandra Singh affirmed that Rahul Gandhi’s visit was driven by humanitarian concerns rather than political motives, aimed at alleviating the prolonged suffering endured by the people over the past 14 months.
Speaking at a press conference held at Congress Bhawan, Singh commended Gandhi, alongside senior leaders KC Venugopal and Girish Chodankar, for their unwavering support and solidarity with Manipur.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of progress despite the prolonged conflict, Rahul Gandhi underscored the urgency for effective measures to restore peace in Manipur. He vowed that the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), under the guidance of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), would intensify efforts to bring an end to the crisis.
During interactions with displaced individuals, Gandhi listened to firsthand accounts of their hardships and stressed the immediate need for decisive action to mitigate their suffering. He called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur promptly and address the escalating crisis with utmost urgency.
