Manipur Congress takes dig at PM Modi’s silence on state’s ongoing crisis
Northeast Desk, 9th March: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
MPCC slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not expressing any words on the present crisis in Manipur, stating that it is the right time to treat him the way they had been treated by his government.
In a media briefing held at Congress Bhawan today, vice president of MPCC Alfred K Arthur responded to a media query, expressing disappointment in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lack of interest in resolving the present conflict in Manipur despite being the leader of the nation. Arthur emphasized that such neglect is unprecedented in any democratic country and called for holding the Prime Minister accountable for his inaction.
“Our state Manipur, which is part of India, has been undergoing the worst turmoil for more than 10 months. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not heed to douse the conflict. Instead of addressing this and consoling the sorrows of people, Modi is more interested in self-grooming, presenting well to the public, and rubbing shoulders with the mighty people,” he asserted.
Arthur further stated that the advent of the BJP government, both at the center and state, has resulted in facing many unforeseen consequences, such as the rise of unemployment. He assured that the Congress party would put all effort into providing jobs and social security once the party comes into power.
Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s address at Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Mega Rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, Arthur highlighted Gandhi’s promise of employment generation and job security in the country once Congress rules the nation.
