Manipur: Curfew Imposed in Imphal East and West Districts Amid Law and Order Concerns

Northeast Desk, 10th September: The Imphal East and West districts of Manipur are now under curfew following the imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, due to ongoing law and order concerns.

The curfew, effective from September 1, 2024, restricts the movement of individuals outside their residences until further notice. A prior relaxation of the curfew from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM on September 10, 2024, was revoked, with new orders in effect from 11:00 AM on the same day, placing the curfew back in full force across Imphal East.

Essential service providers, including health workers, media personnel, power and water service staff, flight passengers, and municipal officials, remain exempt from the curfew orders. However, the public is urged to adhere to the restrictions for their safety until the situation improves.
