Manipur: DGP LM Khaute more richer than Speaker Y Khemchand
Guwahati: Former DGP of Manipur LM Khaute is richer than the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Y. Khemchand Singh as per the affidavits provided by the two candidates.
Khaute of the National People’s Party (NPP) disclosed assets worth Rs 6.23 crores in his affidavit, whereas Y Khemchand Singh declared assets worth more than Rs 2.23 crores, making the former richer by Rs 4 crore.
Manipur Speaker Y Khemchand Singh who is running for the BJP in the Singjamei constituency, revealed assets totaling over Rs 2.23 crore which included cash, banks, movable and immovable assets.
According to the affidavits, Singh’s total movable assets are Rs 1,71,32,611.32, including Rs 1,50,000 in cash and Rs 72,95,724.32 in his bank account. He owns three cars, a Tata Zest worth over Rs 4 lakh, a Mahindra Scorpio worth over Rs 11 lakh, and a Range Rover worth over Rs 70 lakh, as well as jewellery.
The Manipur Speaker owned a non-agricultural land of 5220 sq. ft., which is an inherited property valued Rs. 52,65,283 that he shared with five members of his family. He is liable for a total of Rs 59,00,002 in bank loans.
According to his income tax return, his entire income for the last five financial years, up to March 31, 2021, is Rs 30,68,109.
According to his affidavit, NPP candidate LM Khaute, who is running in the Churachandpur constituency, has movable assets of Rs 88,67,267. He currently possesses Rs 1,50,000 in cash and Rs 79,66,631 in two distinct bank accounts. The former DGP has only one car (a Santro XP) that is registered in his name, as well as investments.
Khaute has three residential buildings valued Rs 5,34,68,000. One is in Nongpok Ingkhol, while the other two are in New Delhi (jointly owned with his wife). A bank loan of Rs 10,49,590 has been listed as a debt by Khaute. Neither candidate has ever been convicted of a crime.
