Manipur DGP Oversees Security Arrangements in Ukhrul Ahead of Shirui Festival
Imphal: In a proactive move to ensure peace and order, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur recently concluded a comprehensive two-day visit to the Ukhrul district. The primary objective of this visit was to thoroughly evaluate the existing law and order situation in the region and meticulously review the security preparations that are currently underway for the highly anticipated Shirui Festival.
The DGP’s itinerary included detailed inspections of several crucial police establishments within the district. These encompassed the Superintendent of Police’s office, the Ukhrul and Litan Police Stations, as well as the headquarters of the 6th Manipur Rifles Battalion. These inspections allowed the DGP to gain firsthand insight into the operational readiness and infrastructure of the local law enforcement agencies.
Furthermore, the DGP convened a significant high-level security meeting with key officials from the district police force. This crucial interaction provided a platform for in-depth discussions and strategic planning. To ensure a unified security framework, the DGP also engaged in collaborative discussions with senior officers representing the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles, emphasizing the importance of seamless coordination among all security stakeholders.
A key component of the DGP’s visit involved an extensive tour of all the prominent venues earmarked for the Shirui Festival. These locations are poised to host a diverse range of cultural programs and public events, drawing significant gatherings. During these site visits, the DGP directly engaged with officers stationed on the ground, meticulously reviewed the on-site arrangements, and provided comprehensive briefings aimed at guaranteeing the smooth and secure execution of the upcoming festival.
Underscoring the critical need for a cohesive and collaborative effort, the DGP issued a clear directive to all involved security agencies. He strongly emphasized the importance of close inter-agency cooperation to ensure the peaceful and successful celebration of the Shirui Festival 2025, a significant cultural event for the state.
