Manipur Election: Nearly 12% Voter turnout till 10am
Imphal (Manipur): Polling for the first phase of the Manipur Assembly election has begun at 7 am on Monday. State Election Commission on Monday informed that the voter turnout touched 11.68 percent in the state till 10 am.
Manipur Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janta Party candidate from Heingang cast his vote at Shrivan High School in Imphal. CM said that BJP is expecting 30 out of 38 seats in the first phase of the assembly election.
According to reports, in 38 assembly constituencies, a total of 173 candidates are running, including 12 women.
Meanwhile, A total of 12,09,439 people will cast ballots at 1,721 polling places to elect their representatives.
Chief Minister and BJP candidate N Biren Singh, Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and NPP candidate Yumnam Joykumar, and Manipur Congress president N Lokesh Singh are among the major contestants in the race.
Imphal East has ten constituencies, Imphal West has thirteen, Bishnupur and Churachandpur each have six, and Kangpokpi has three.
