Guwahati: An India Reserve Battalion (IRB) constable have died and at least 11 were injured in a road accident in Tamenglong district of Manipur on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as K Lalawmpuia.
According to reports, they were heading towards Manipur from Mizoram for the second phase polls on March 5.
In the incident, one police personnel died on the spot and injured was sent to Tamenglong district hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, five of the seriously injured personnel were later airlifted to Imphal for better treatment.
It needs to be mentioned that Manipur will go to the second phase of polling on March 5 for the remaining 22 assembly constituencies and the results of the assembly polls will be announced on March 10 along with those for four other states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand.
