Manipur: FIR Lodged Against ITLF Media Secretary Ginza Vualzong Over Ethnic Violence

Northeast Desk, 7th September: An FIR has been filed against Ginza Vualzong, Media and Publicity Secretary of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), at Imphal Police Station on September 4, 2024. The complaint accuses Vualzong of inciting violence and unrest between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, citing several serious offenses under the BNS Act.

The FIR alleges that Vualzong disseminated provocative statements and materials, including social media posts that purportedly incited violence against the Meitei community. Additionally, the complaint accuses him of obtaining foreign funding to support ITLF activities. It details several illegal acts under Sections 3(5), 3(6), 46, 49, 61, among others, and mentions evidence of sophisticated weaponry and drone technology allegedly used by ITLF, funded by foreign sources.

Vualzong has denied the allegations, claiming they are unfounded and part of a broader attempt to discredit him during the ongoing conflict. In a statement to India Today NE, he asserted, “I have received two FIRs from the Meiteis, and none of the accusations against me are true. I am consulting with my lawyer to address this matter legally.”
