Manipur Flash Flood Situation Improves, Khwairamband Imphal Market Still Affected
Northeast Desk, 2nd June: The flash flood situation in Manipur has seen significant improvement, with water levels receding in most previously inundated low-lying areas. However, parts of Khwairamband Imphal Market remain submerged, leading to a three-day closure of shops and businesses.
State IFC Minister L. Sushildro has assured the public that the flood situation in Imphal city, including the market, will be controlled within two days, promising a swift return to normalcy. The IFC Department is actively monitoring the flood-affected regions and implementing measures to manage the situation.
In a statement to the media, Minister Sushildro emphasized that the IFC Department is visiting all flood-hit areas in Manipur. They have also arranged alternative sources to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply to residents.
The State Health Directorate has issued an alert for flood-affected communities to remain vigilant against venomous snakes. Anti-venom medication is available from Chief Medical Officers for those who suffer snake bites.
