Manipur Foils Major Drug Smuggling Bid, Three Arrested
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have delivered a significant blow to the illicit drug trade, apprehending three suspected traffickers and seizing a substantial quantity of heroin in a meticulously planned operation. The arrests took place in L. Kanan village, nestled under the Behiang Police Station jurisdiction within Churachandpur district.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Ginmang Haokip, 40, from Hengkot village; Seikholen, 45, of Kipgen Veng; and Lalzui Vaiphei, 52, hailing from Ngathal village. All three are residents of Churachandpur district. The operation yielded a considerable haul: 269 soap cases brimming with heroin, collectively weighing approximately 2.95 kilograms. In addition, three mobile phones, suspected of being instrumental in coordinating their clandestine activities, were confiscated. Authorities surmise that the seized contraband was destined for distribution not only within the state’s boundaries but potentially beyond. The accused are currently in police custody, and a thorough investigation is actively underway to unravel the extent of the network involved in this nefarious drug operation.
