Manipur Foils Major Drug Trafficking Bid, Four Arrested
Imphal: In a significant triumph against the pervasive drug menace, security forces in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district successfully apprehended four individuals on July 24, dismantling a major narcotics operation. The arrests, stemming from a targeted intelligence-led operation, took place in T. Khullen village, falling under the purview of Kangpokpi Police Station.
The alleged perpetrators have been identified as S. Poubinah Teinamei (31), PF Adaphro (34), and S. Boibina (29), all hailing from T. Khullen. Also taken into custody was Lungdinibou Thiumei (52), a resident of Khundong Khunkhaiba in the neighbouring Tamenglong district.
The meticulously executed raid yielded a substantial haul: 273 soap cases brimming with heroin, collectively weighing an estimated 3.5 kilograms. Beyond the illicit drugs, authorities also seized a staggering Rs 99,09,850 in unaccounted cash, along with seven mobile phones and two vehicles – a DI and a Hyundai Creta – believed to have been instrumental in the trafficking activities.
Officials have confirmed that a thorough investigation is now underway to unearth the origins of the contraband and its intended distribution network. This breakthrough represents a severe setback for the drug trafficking syndicates operating within the region, underscoring the relentless efforts of security agencies in their fight against illegal narcotics.
