Manipur Government Urges Citizens to Stay Vigilant Against Misinformation, Sets Up 24×7 Control Room
Imphal: In an effort to maintain peace and prevent unrest, the Government of Manipur has issued an appeal to all citizens, urging them not to fall prey to unverified news, rumours, or misinformation that could potentially disrupt harmony in the state.
Recent instances of false and misleading information being circulated on various platforms have led to confusion and tensions. The government has warned that certain individuals and groups may deliberately spread false narratives to incite violence and create fear.
To counter this, a 24×7 Control Room has been set up, where citizens can verify any news or information before believing or sharing it. The Control Room can be reached at 9485280419 and will be operational round the clock.
Authorities have also assured strict action against those attempting to incite violence, spread falsehoods, or disturb the state’s law and order. The government has reiterated that any such attempts will be dealt with as per the law.
Emphasizing the importance of unity, the government has urged community leaders, civil society organizations, religious groups, and student bodies to work together in fostering peace and trust among different communities.
Citizens are encouraged to rely only on official sources for news verification and report any suspicious information to the Control Room or their nearest authorities.
The Manipur government has stressed that maintaining peace and law & order is a shared responsibility and called upon residents to prioritize harmony and development for the overall progress of the state.
