Manipur: Governor Anusuiya Uikey Leads International Day of Yoga Celebrations at Raj Bhavan in Imphal

Northeast Desk, 21st June: Today, on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, Raj Bhavan in Imphal witnessed a vibrant celebration of this global event. Held annually on June 21st following its adoption by the United Nations in 2014, International Day of Yoga promotes the practice’s profound benefits for physical and mental well-being worldwide.

This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, underscores yoga’s dual role in enhancing individual well-being and fostering social harmony. Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, took part in yoga asanas alongside officers, staff, and security personnel at Raj Bhavan this morning.

Following the yoga session, Governor Uikey encouraged the people of Manipur to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on yoga’s importance, she highlighted its significant benefits for both physical and mental health.

Governor Uikey stressed that yoga not only promotes physical fitness but also contributes to mental well-being, urging everyone to embrace its practices for overall health improvement. She expressed her best wishes to all participants, including officers, staff, security personnel, and officials from the Ayush Department who joined in the yoga session.

The celebration at Raj Bhavan in Imphal served as a reminder of yoga’s universal appeal and its role in promoting holistic wellness among individuals and communities alike.
