Manipur Governor inaugurates New Girls’ Hostel at Dhanamanjuri University
Imphal: Imphal witnessed a significant step towards empowering Scheduled Caste female students today as Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated a newly constructed 100-bedded hostel within the Dhanamanjuri University campus.
The facility, a dedicated space for Scheduled Caste girls, promises a safe and conducive atmosphere for their academic pursuits and personal development.
The construction of this vital infrastructure was overseen by the Manipur OBC & SC Development Society (MOBEDS), highlighting the state’s commitment to the educational advancement of marginalized communities. This initiative directly addresses the need for secure and supportive accommodation for female students from Scheduled Caste backgrounds, enabling them to focus on their studies without the burden of logistical challenges.
Following the inaugural ceremony, Governor Bhalla engaged in a comprehensive meeting at the University’s Administrative Block. The discussions centered on a spectrum of crucial academic and administrative matters, with a strong emphasis on bolstering student welfare and optimizing the university’s operational efficiency.
During the interaction, Governor Bhalla passionately called upon university officials to discharge their duties with unwavering dedication, always prioritizing the best interests of the student body. Furthermore, he conveyed the government’s firm commitment to providing comprehensive support for the enhancement of the university’s existing facilities and overall infrastructure.
The Governor’s visit also included a thorough inspection of various university departments, allowing him to gain firsthand insight into the institution’s current infrastructure and identify areas for potential improvement. The meeting saw the participation of key officials including H. Gyan Prakash, the Commissioner of Higher & Technical Education, and Professor W. Chandbabu Singh, the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, alongside other senior members of the university administration.
