Manipur: Imphal East District Reinstates Total Curfew Amid Heightened Security Concerns

Northeast Desk, 14th September: Authorities in Imphal East District have reimposed a total curfew, effective from 2:00 pm on September 14, due to escalating security concerns. This decision comes after a temporary relaxation, granted under a previous order on September 13, which had allowed residents to move freely between 5:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The curfew, initially relaxed under Civil Miscellaneous Case No. 5 of 2024, was rescinded earlier than expected as officials cited the need to restore order in light of recent developments. A full curfew is now in place across the district until further notice.

Certain essential services remain exempt from the restrictions. Healthcare workers, personnel in charge of water supply (PHED), municipal services, and power management (MSPCL/MSPDCL), as well as those operating petrol pumps, are allowed to move freely. Additionally, court officials, air passengers, and media professionals are permitted to travel during the curfew.

Authorities have urged the public to comply with the curfew to maintain safety and prevent any disruptions to law and order in the district.
