Imphal: To commemorate World Food Day, the Indian Army organized an awareness programme on October 16 at T Yangnom Village in Tengnoupal District and Sardar Patel School in Khurkul, Imphal West District.

The event focused on the theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and Better Future,” aiming to promote healthy and nutritious food consumption while educating the local community about food security and government initiatives designed to improve food accessibility.

The programme attracted approximately 200 participants, including students and villagers from T Yangnom, B Mounnaveng, Lhangkichoi Villages, and Sardar Patel School.

During the session, the Company Commander highlighted essential government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the National Food Security Act (NFSA), and the Mid Day Meal Scheme.

These initiatives are intended to ensure equal access to nutritious food, particularly in rural areas where food insecurity can be a significant challenge.

By raising awareness of these schemes and emphasizing the importance of nutrition, the Indian Army aims to empower local communities to make informed decisions about their food choices and to enhance their overall well-being.
