Manipur: ITLF Submits Memorandum to Amit Shah, Seeks CBI Probe Into Atrocities Against Kuki-Zo Community
Northeast Desk, 15th November: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Amit Shah, urging a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged atrocities against the Kuki-Zo community. The ITLF organized a large-scale rally, with tens of thousands of protesters from different locations marching to Tuibuong Peace Ground, demanding investigations into cases of atrocities by the Meitei community and criticizing the state government’s response.
In the memorandum addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah, the ITLF alleged a partisan approach by the Manipur State Government in dealing with the ethnic strife between the Majority Meetei/Meitei Community and the Tribal Kuki-Zo people in Manipur. The tribal body called for a CBI investigation into complaints of atrocities, carnage, murder, and alleged rape inflicted upon the Kuki-Zo community by the Meetei/Meitei Community, reportedly supported by the Manipur State Government.
The memorandum emphasized the need for intervention to address the ethnic tension in Manipur and requested a thorough investigation into the various reported incidents. The ITLF urged Amit Shah to use his influence to prompt a CBI inquiry, seeking justice for the Kuki-Zo tribal population.
