
Manipur: Jewellery Shop Owner Allegedly Shot and Robbed in Imphal City
Northeast Desk, 14th January: A jewellery shop owner identified as Naorem Krishnadas (36) was allegedly shot at by suspected armed miscreants in the Imphal city, Manipur, on January 14.
Krishnadas, the proprietor of Muhindro Jewellery in Wahengbam Leikai, reportedly sustained a bullet injury on his left thigh.
Naorem Krishnadas, son of N Muhindro from Kakching Ningthou Leikai, was first admitted to RIMS for immediate medical attention before being rushed to Shija Hospital for further treatment.
The incident unfolded as Krishnadas and three companions were en route to Kakching after closing the jewellery shop.
According to reports, as they approached Waithou Chingon, unidentified masked individuals allegedly overtook their vehicle. The armed suspects, brandishing small arms, forcibly stopped the vehicle. The miscreants then took control of the vehicle, directing it towards Canchipur.
During the incident, the armed assailants reportedly looted gold worth approximately Rs 20 lakh. Additionally, they fired two rounds of bullets, with one hitting Krishnadas on his left foot.
This unfortunate event highlights the alarming rise in crime and poses concerns for the safety of individuals in the region. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice in this case.
