Manipur: JNIMS Imphal Gears Up for Full Reopening Post-Floods
Imphal: The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal is all set to throw open its doors once again, with healthcare and academic services slated to resume from June 16, 2025. This much-anticipated return to normalcy comes after a challenging period of severe flooding that had inundated the entire campus since June 2, leading to a temporary halt in all operations.
The institute has assured the public that emergency services will be fully operational from Monday, marking a crucial step towards restoring critical healthcare access. Efforts are diligently underway to ensure a complete restoration of all medical facilities, with routine surgeries, often referred to as Routine OT, expected to recommence in short order as the campus continues its recovery.
Beyond the vital healthcare provisions, academic pursuits at JNIMS are also slated for resumption on the same date. Undergraduate students pursuing MBBS and BDS degrees, along with postgraduate trainees, can look forward to regular classes resuming, as confirmed by the administration. This signifies a commitment to swiftly bringing both medical education and patient care back on track.
The recent deluges had forced the unfortunate suspension of both the academic and healthcare wings of JNIMS. The administration has extended its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff, students, and all stakeholders who tirelessly contributed to the recovery efforts during this trying time, showcasing the collective spirit that underpins the institution.
JNIMS holds a pivotal position in the region, serving as a cornerstone for both medical education and healthcare delivery. The impending resumption of activities is a significant milestone, reinforcing the institute’s unwavering commitment to its vital role as a key healthcare provider in Manipur. The administration remains steadfast in its dedication to upholding the highest standards in both patient care and educational excellence.
As JNIMS prepares to welcome back its community, the reopening stands as a powerful testament to the resilience and unwavering dedication demonstrated by everyone associated with the institute. The administration lauded the collective effort, which proved instrumental in navigating and overcoming the disruptions brought about by the unprecedented flooding.
