Manipur: Joint Operation Nets Three KCP(PWG) Cadres in Imphal West
Imphal: In a significant blow to the Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples’ War Group), a joint operation by Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) led to the arrest of three cadres in Imphal West’s Phayeng on Wednesday.
The apprehended individuals, identified as Laishram Kenjit Singh (36), Md Abdul Matalif (37), and Laishram Langamba Meitei (28), were allegedly involved in a series of extortion activities in the region.
During the operation, security forces recovered a locally-made 9mm pistol with four live rounds from the trio. Subsequent raids on their hideouts in Kangchup yielded additional incriminating evidence, including a demand letter and an illegal arms manufacturing workshop.
This latest arrest follows the capture of four other KCP(PWG) members in Kakching district on December 4. These individuals were also accused of extortion and illegal arms possession.
The successful operations highlight the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in dismantling militant networks and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Manipur.
