Manipur: KLA Cadre Apprehended with Arms Cache in Churachandpur

Northeast Desk, 29th March: In a significant development, Manipur police have apprehended a member of the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) in Churachandpur district.

The arrest, conducted on March 28, targeted 31-year-old Minsy, a resident of Bijang, Sangaikot, Churachandpur.

Upon interrogation, the police recovered a cache of arms from Minsy, including a 7.62 SLR with a magazine, an AK-56 rifle, a magazine of INSAS 5.56 mm, a BPJ cover with 2 BP plates, and 216 live ammunition. Authorities suspect his involvement in extortion activities along the road leading to Chandel District. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway.

In a separate incident, an alleged blast of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has rattled a village in Manipur’s Jiribam district.

The explosion, occurring early this morning in Durgapur village within the Borobekra Sub Division, stemmed from a suspected IED bomb planted by unknown miscreants outside the shop owned by H. Manikumar Singh.

While the blast caused significant damage to the shop, fortunately, there were no casualties reported. Local authorities are actively investigating the incident to ascertain the perpetrators and motives behind the attack.
