Manipur: Major Police Operations Lead to Significant Arrests and Arms Seizures
Northeast Desk, 16th July: In a series of decisive actions aimed at curbing criminal activities in Manipur, the state police have achieved notable successes with the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
On July 13, 2024, Manipur Police apprehended Yambem Gulshan (27) and Philem Jenan Singh (32) from Sangaiporou in Imphal West District. The duo was allegedly involved in the theft of an unregistered vehicle. Upon their arrest, authorities seized a .45 pistol loaded with 19 live rounds and equipped with two magazines, along with a 9 mm pistol containing 13 live rounds and a magazine.
This operation followed another significant breakthrough on July 12, 2024. In response to a shooting incident involving unidentified perpetrators along the Lamphel Sanakeithel road, Manipur Police conducted special operations in Khuyathong Polem Leikai and Nagamapal areas of Imphal West. During these raids, police recovered an Excalibur Rifle (7.62 mm AR GHAATAK) without a magazine, as well as an MA-3 MK-II Rifle with a magazine loaded with 14 live rounds. Additionally, authorities seized two four-wheeler vehicles and one two-wheeler vehicle believed to be associated with the incident.
These operations underscore the commitment of Manipur Police to maintaining law and order in the region, with confiscated items and arrested individuals being processed for further legal proceedings.
