Manipur Massacre Suspect Nabbed in Aizawl, NIA Tightens Grip on Conspiracy

Imphal: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended another prime suspect linked to the horrific killing of six people, including three women and three children, in Manipur’s Jiribam district last year. The arrest was made in Aizawl, Mizoram, as the central probe agency intensifies its crackdown on the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

The latest arrest follows closely on the heels of the capture of Thanglienlal Hmar, who was apprehended by a joint NIA-Assam police team just a day prior, also in Aizawl. This recent action highlights the concerted effort by the NIA to dismantle the network of individuals responsible for the brutal incident that took place on November 11, 2024, in the Borebekra area of Jiribam.

The probe agency had already made a breakthrough on July 31, with the arrest of two other suspects, Lalrosang Hmar alias Rosang and Dilkhosh Grant, both of whom were also picked up from Aizawl. According to the NIA, Lalrosang Hmar, much like Thanglienlal Hmar, played an active role as a conspirator in the gruesome act of violence. The six victims were abducted and subsequently murdered, with their bodies callously disposed of in the Barak River.

Investigators have recovered a mobile phone and a SIM card from the newly arrested suspect, which are currently being scrutinised for crucial leads. The agency is meticulously examining the recovered digital evidence to unearth further details about the conspiracy and the roles of all those involved. The ongoing investigation aims to bring all the culprits to justice and provide some closure to the grieving families of the victims.
