Manipur: Miscreants shoot at Meitei Leepun chief Pramot Singh in Langol, escapes unhurt
Northeast Desk, 3rd November: Meetei Leepun Pramot was reportedly shot at while driving his car near Shija Hospital in Manipur on November 3. According to sources, the incident took place around 7.10 AM today, but the chief escaped unharmed.
It is to be mentioned that the United Nations Human Rights has expressed concern about the vandalism of activist Babloo Loitongbam’s residence in Manipur.
Furthermore, the UN Human Rights has directly implicated local groups Meitei Leepun and Arambai Tengol in the incident.
In a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), the UN Human Rights said, “We are alarmed by threats to human rights defender Babloo Loitongbam by Meitei Leepun & Arambai Tengol groups in Manipur for speaking out on inter-communal violence since May. We urge authorities to protect him, his family & home, & hold perpetrators accountable.”
This reaction comes after unidentified individuals reportedly invaded the residence of Human Rights Alert director Babloo Loitongbam, located in Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai, under the Imphal West district on October 5, vandalizing various household properties.
