Manipur MLAs Stake Claim: NDA Delegation Seeks ‘Popular Government’
Imphal: A high-level delegation of ten Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) today met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, formally staking their claim to form the government in the state. The group, which included eight MLAs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), one from the National People’s Party (NPP), and a lone Independent legislator, conveyed their unified support for the formation of a “popular government.”
Independent MLA Sapam Nishikanta Singh, acting as the group’s spokesperson, confirmed that a signed document was submitted to the Governor. This crucial document, he revealed, bore the signatures of 22 MLAs who are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Manipur, signifying their collective endorsement for the government formation.
“We expect the formation of the popular government to happen soon. We are appealing to the Governor that we want a popular government. All NDA MLAs in Manipur are very keen to have a popular government installed. We also want the support of the public,” Singh elaborated to reporters following the pivotal meeting. The political landscape in Manipur remains keenly watched as the next steps towards government formation are anticipated.
